Situated in south-eastern part of Europe, Bulgaria occupies the north-eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula. To the East Bulgaria touches the Black Sea. To the South its neighbours are Greece and Turkey. Romania is to the north, much of it separated by the River Danube, and Serbia and Macedonia are Bulgaria’s neighbours to the west. Bulgaria is 2 hours ahead of the UK (GMT), and 1 hour ahead of Central European Time.
